Hello, two or three times now I've used 'Amazing Mold Rubber' to create a mold.
Problem is I cannot make a 2 part mold. I wait 2 or 3 days to make sure the first part is hardened. Then I douse it liberally with "Castin' Craft Mold Release and Conditioner" I let it dry for an hour or so.
When I pour the second half, the two parts always fuse together, creating a solid mass.
Greatly appreciate any advice.
Thank you very much.

Absolute best mold release for releasing silicone to silicone is Vaseline. Whenever I've had problems or was nervous, I simply smear a very thin layer of Vaseline with my finger anywhere the second half will touch the first. I try to avoid touching my master as it can make the master look glossy and the rubber will pick that surface appearance up and reproduce it in your casting.
The Amazing Mold Rubber has such an extremely high tear strength, I've found it sometimes will grab and adhere just enough to fuse two part molds even when doused with a sprayed mold release.

Thanks very much Mike. I'll keep that in mind. Very interesting how the gloss look can be transferred to the master, which might be useful in my case (miniature wine bottles). I've also discovered Alumilite also sells 'Rubber to Rubber mold release', which I've just ordered from Walmart online in my area. Looking forward to no longer making rubber bricks ! Cheers

The rubber to rubber mold release is a petroleum jelly type product as well in a dispersement. It will work as well. Just make sure to put on 3 or 4 layers, allowing it to dry between each layer.

Hi Mike. Do I need 3 or 4 layers if straight petroleum jelly as well?
