I would like to make a mould of bees wax honeycomb. With the softness of the was comb I was thinking of freezing it first then making the mould and wondered if the cold would hinder the mould making.
What would be the best food safe product to use in this application?
Thanks

Considering what it is and and the master being frozen, I'd say the Amazing Mold Maker would work fine. Normally I'd suggest one of the Plat series but you'll need to use every second to have the silicone cure before the comb defrosts and the Amazing Mold Maker has a 30 minute cure time. With that short of a cure time, the cold shouldn't slow it down enough to deform the inside. Though I've used Plat 25 to pour over soft gummies before and had no problem with it deforming the design.
Just be sure to pour the layer over the top as thin as you can so that it doesn't weigh down the top and deform the comb while it cures. The Plat is mostly clear so you can easily see the top but the AMM is red so I'd mark one of the sides of the mold box at between 1/8" or 1/4" above the comb top and pour to that line. Even at 1/8" thick, all Alumilite silicones will hold up to being cast in.
And if you find it's not quite thick enough at 1/8", cast the first copy but don't demold it and you can pour a little extra on the bottom to add another layer to it. If you do it while the casting is still in there then you won't deform that spot even if you add a lot extra.
