I bought some epoxy grout that is not anywhere near to color shown in the manufacturer's color chart. Has anyone ever tried to use Alumilite Liquid Dyes to color epoxy grout? The grout is a two part epoxy based grout with the color in part A.
The grout is Ardex WA. It is quite expensive at $90 for about 1/2 gallon. I cannot return it because I have opened it and hope to save myself from having to just toss it.

I have not tried that, does the package say it can be colored? And if so, what kind of colorant does it say can be used?

I have not tried that, does the package say it can be colored? And if so, what kind of colorant does it say can be used? The Mfg. website does not specifically mention coloring but does state not to use any additives. I have some Alumilite dyes coming today and will post the results.

Yes please do let us know how it turns out. If it says not to use any additives then that might mean that it can't be colored but then again, some things that say they can't be colored but still can be colored with certain things. It might end up more of a "stained" coloring though.

It worked. I was worried that the dye would not actually mix in and would therefore not become part or the hardened grout. I mixed the Alumilite Liquid Dyes (some brown, red and white) into the Ardex WA epoxy grout and used it to grout a test piece of mosaic tiles. The grout became the color of Hersey Cocoa powder. 12 hours later, the grout is slightly darker and fully hardened. The color hass deep density not translucent like a stain and looks the same as any pre-colored epoxy grout.
The only problem I have is with staining of the honed marble tiles. I will try sealing another test piece today and grout it tomorrow. Hopefully, the sealer will prevent staining. This was a problem with before I added the dyes. The Ardex WA epoxy grout was a yellowish color and it also stained the marble when I made my first test before I decided the grout color was not at all what I expected based on the Mfg. color chart which showed it as a brown color.

Well that's great! I'm glad it worked for you, now we know another thing the dyes can do. Yes I would seal them too as it should prevent staining but I've not actually sealed marble tiles so I can't say for certain.
