I am looking for the best material to cast small lead fishing lures from 1/2 to 1 ounce in size. I would prefer to make a multi-cavity mold but single cavity would be fine if the mold life would be extended.
Although many of the products here have been mentioned for casting lead on other forums I do not see any products that are recommended for the melting point of lead.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, DaveB.

DaveB, Silicone's will eventually "burn out" even with an exothermic resin, low melt metals can be a bit tougher on them by giving you a shorter mold life due to some high heat. The best silicone to use is a platinum silicone like the Plat 55 (highly recommended to degas it) for your longest mold life... some fisherman use the platinum cure putty this would work best for single cavity molds as opposed to a multi-cavity mold. You can read up on the Plat 55 or the Alumilite Mold Putty, looking at the TDS as follows DaveB. www.alumilite.com/store/p/927-Plat-55.aspx and/or the putty www.alumilite.com/store/p/1024-Mold-Putty.aspxThere are products/silicone's available from other sources that may produce longer mold life for high melt metals. Warmest Regards, Carol
