I have been making stepping stones out of concrete and I would like to try doing some out of a resin of some sort to lighten them up for shipping. I'm just not sure what kind I should start with. I would like that they be durable, paintable, able to go outside and will pick up the details of the molds. This may not be at all the right product but I figured I'd ask. Thanks!

Carriechuck,
I have seen some stepping stones done out of urethane resins, they are beautiful. They do pick up the detail, they are quite a bit lighter than concrete that is for certain. It is all of the above especially in thicker pieces durable, paintable, and able to go outside. Dyed and/or painted will help somewhat with UV stability. The cost can be quite a bit more than concrete for these pieces. The silicone mold costs is another expense that needs to be researched before going forward with this project.
Regards,
Carol

It can yes, but it would need a mother mold around it to hold the weight of concrete so it would not possibly distort the piece. Steppingstone1, some use the Flexible urethane's for concrete molds, they are a stiffer/rigid material in the higher durometers 70-80A. If you like you can look those up on the website, there is a TDS (technical data sheet) and SDS right next to every product on our website.
Have a wonderful day!

Their weights are very close to that, they may vary slightly one way or another but you should still be able to calculate your volume you will need. I am sorry SteppingStone there was an oversight on your post.
