Hi folks,
Am using Alumilite clear and would like to get more bubbles out of it. I bought a degassing chamber, am pulling 29 on the meter easily. Problem is that it just stays frothy and never seems to collapse. I'm mixing both A & B parts ahead of time, should I do the A/B seperately? Don't want to waste anymore resin. Doesn't seem to be much info on the interweb about this that I can find. I found something that said to mix ahead of time and should take 2 minutes but even after 5 minutes it just seems to stay the same and is unusable. Any tips appreciated!

LJ
Once the resin rises often times resembling foam when it first starts to degass then the material should collapse/fall. It should plateau and stop rising then continue to vacuum for another 2 to 3 minutes to make certain all of the air has been removed from the material. You may still see some boiling/bubbling at the end of this couple minutes but once this interval is reached you shut the vacuum pump off. Then you release the chamber valve to equalize the pressure once it stops you can then open the vacuum chamber. At this point you should be able to pour it into your silicone mold LJ. Remember when you pour it to help keep it bubble free it should be poured slowly in a high and narrow stream starting from the corner of the mold letting the material flow freely into the box or mold cavity. Usually, this method will not introduce any new bubbles into the vacuumed material.
You really shouldn't have to mix them individually but it may be worth a try... please let me know if that works, then call me LJ please. Just test with a small amount of resin.
Happy Holidays to you look forward to speaking with you.
Warmest Regards,
Carol

Hi, I do somes testing with water clear alumilite resin with the exact same result... Under vacuum (in the vacuum chamber) even if I let it for an hour bubble are always here... So instead of using vacuum for degasing my mix I tried to mix it carefully and vibrate the resin to get rid of bubbles...BUT even if I have no visible bubble at the liquid stage when it start to cure bubble appear everywere... I really don't know what to do to get something useful with my resin...

I just did a test in a pressure pot at 40PSI and no visible bubble... So I wonder if pressure casting is the only way to get perfectly clear part with water clear resin??? Thanks, J-P
