Your site says: "There is .554 ounces in 1 cubic inch of Alumilite Resin."
Shouldn't that read, .554 FLUID ounces?
Is there .554 fluid ounces of Alumilite Clear A in 1 cubic inch? And .554 fl oz of Clear B in 1 cu. inch?
If so, I can multiply .554 by the volume of my mold to determine the total weight of mixed A & B and then divide by 2 to get the weight of Clear A needed and the weight of Clear B needed?
Thanks for your help. -Jake

Hi Jake, I believe we spoke on the phone today. With each side of Alumilite Clear having different specific gravitates, it often easier to using the volume calculator to determine the total amount of resin needed in fl.oz to fill your moldbox, then deduct a percentage of the volume you feel your wood will take up. Let's say that brings you to 10 fl.oz. You could then take a graduated cup sitting on a gram scale and fill it to the 5fl.oz. mark. Then look to see how much it weighs in grams. Then add that same amount of B side in grams. We've also have had customers fill the mold box with rice, then transfer the rice into a graduated cup to estimate how much resin they will need. Good luck! Don

Don,
Thanks for this reply. Yes, what you describe makes sense. When adding an object to the mold, I guess you'd have to estimate the volume the object will take up. But if I'm only adding A + B and no other objects...
What about this?: Once I know the total volume I need, all I really have to know is how much 1 cubic inch (or fl. oz if you like) of A weighs and how much 1 cubic inch of B weighs. Then use that ratio to figure out how much A needs to weigh and how much B needs to weigh so that when combined, will equal the total volume.
Knowing this ratio would be pretty handy; the amounts needed of A and B will be exact and I'll know the numbers before actually pouring anything. So, if you know how much 1 oz. of each A & B weighs, please let me know. If not, I might just get a cheap graduated cylinder.
Let me know if I'm off about this.
Thanks. Jake
