I am trying to make a diorama piece utilizing Amazing clear cast for a water effect. I would like to partially embed the feet of a action figure into the resin but still be able to remove the figure after the resin hardens, for travel purposes. Is there any type of release agent that I could coat the feet with so that this would be possible. Preferably something that will not leave any cloudiness in the clear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We have Stoner Mold Release but you could use something as easy as a thin layer of Vaseline. The issue is that it will more than likely look like a frosted beer mug rather than be crystal clear as the surface of the action figures feet is not polished smoothly to a super high gloss. The other issue is that when you put the figures legs back in, it will appear a little white and shiny as the resin will not make 100% complete contact with the legs/feet and you will see the air between the two as a glossy white appearance which might look great.
You also have to make sure the legs/feet do not have any negative draft or undercut that would prevent you from taking it in and out.

Old thread, but an alternative solution, depending on the value of the figure and it’s size...cut the figure and put pins in the feet. Drill holes in the legs to accept the pins. That way the feet stay in the resin so will solve all the problems Mike outlined above, but still improve portability.
