I need to make a mold of an object and cast with a lightweight material of some sort. Originally I was thinking of using the Plat55 for the mold and an expanding foam for the casting material. The problem is the plat55 is just too expensive. I need about 250 cubic inches. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Betts211,
All of the silicone's are roughly the same price, larger volumes you see more of a discounted price. Sometimes you can cut down on the cost of a larger mold by using the thixotropic additive and the shell for a mother mold. Please see the site for the How To on that application Betts211. Of course this method don't fit all projects but a good share of them.
Have a wonderful day!
Warmest Regards,
Carol
