My first pour comes out very smooth and perfect. When pouring multiple pieces they come out rough. I smoked the mold with soot from a candle prior to pouring. What can I do to prep the mold to get repeatable good pours

Fred,
What is the reason for smoking the mold with soot? I have never heard of this, is it for a special effect? Does the soot have larger particulates that are filtering down on the mold? That would/could explain why it is rough. If the soot has a purpose to be there, after you explain to me what for perhaps we can work something out to make it work. Otherwise, I would say clean the mold out well with regular rubbing alcohol to get any particulates or soot that may be in it. You can then use a talc or baby powder (pound out exess don't leave it pooled or thick areas that could clog detail) to release surface tension on the mold. What resin is it, when purchased, and where?
Regards,
Carol
