I have some oil based paint colors I would like to try to color Alumilite clear resin. Is this OK or will it cause issues? thanks!

We have had some success with some oil based paints but the absolute best thing to do is to do a small test. Mix 1 oz of each side and tooth pick a small amount of the oil based paint to add ... once that is mixed in, pour some into a 1 oz cup and allow to cure. With what is left in your mix cup, add more dye (higher concentration) of the oil based paint and pour that into a second 1 oz cup and allow to cure.
Make sure both cured samples cure properly and harden completely. If any residue, oil, or leaching take place OR if the material cures softer than you'd expect, do not use it.

So I ran a test as per the suggestion and when I dipped the stick in and then tried stirring into the resin, it kind of clumped up..no matter how much I stirred I couldn't get it to blend completely into the mix. Although it did color the resin, it left a bunch of little clumps in the bottom. Maybe this brand is too thick...otherwise the cure seemed OK as far as hardness.

That brand or type doesn't sound compatible. Not sure why it would clump so fast and not disperse??

Did you try putting into the A side prior to mixing it with the B side? ... or were the A and B already mixed when you added it?

My thought is that it might go into just the A side or just the B side better ... then mix the other side. I'd try the A side first.

That's a good suggestion, I mixed it into the a/b mix. Will give this a try. Thanks Mike!
