Hello
I do have the same issue as all the people who left comments on this forum. I have purchased a mold rubber kit from my local supplier and the catalyst is crystallized in the bottle and it is a brand new kit never opened with the seal still on it.
Can you help with this issue?
Thanks Normand

So question... I made a mold and poured resin in on Saturday. As of today (Wednesday) the resin is still tacky.
What did I do wrong?

I have some catalyst that I've only used a bit of (maybe like 1/5) and it sat there for a while. It looks like it also separated and crystallized. Is there any way to restore it to fully liquid form? Or anything else I can do?

Separation/crystallization does occur from time to time with the catalyst ......what I do is vigorously shake the bottle for a couple of minutes, rotating it from top to bottom (cap up=top, cap down=bottom)before doing anything else with it. The separation is caused by the lighter elements floating on top of the heavier elements. If after shaking the bottle for a few minutes and you still have crystals, get back with me here on the forums and we will take it from there.

It had crystallized in a huge block at the bottom and I've been shaking it every so often since yesterday. Will it eventually dissolve back into it's original state? Or is there no saving it?

Your patience on this matter is appreciated. Thanks Brian! I gave her a call and she was very helpful! Are there any tips on what can be done to prevent this in the future if I haven't been using it for a while? Should I shake it up every so often? Or is there no helping the shelf life?

Shaking it every so often will help even if you don't use it when you shake it. I have taken to the habit of shaking everything when I use them and if I can't remember the last time I used them I give them a shake for good measure.

Hello; I too, have a catalyst problem . I have been buying a kit at a time until I have enough for a model boat mold .I can not find a catalyst to replace what has crystalized .
I have bout 10 kits and now 9 are bad and not opened, can I buy replacement cat? [it has been to long to return]
I have used different rubbers and Amazing mold rubber is my favorite one to use. It is firmer , sets-up faster, I find it easier to use and more detail comes out.
I did not know you can not keep it 6 months or more without the cat. going bad[ my bad] can you help me buy more cat or some thing.

Just give Alumilite a call and tell them you need just the catalyst, they should be able to sell you just that as I've done it before.

You have to call Alumilite at (269) 488-4000 for a special order - talk to someone in Sales, Heather is usually manning the phones and I talk to her a lot. She'll get a replacement out to you quickly but be sure to let her know it's because of crystalized catalyst as there is no charge for that.

I bought two boxes a couple months ago, and when I opened the boxes both the catalysts were crystalized. Neither one of the bottles have ever been opened. Guess I just waisted a bunch of money.
