Hi,I am a beginner, I’m trying to get the two colors that I can swirl. I think I know what I have to do for more success with that, but my colors are bleeding into the wood. I am using clear slow and Alumilite dyes. Should I be sealing the wood before I cast? Thanks!

When working with wood, I have seen a lot more success when the wood is sealed. But to give better advice, could you tell us which product you're using and what you're swirling the colors on?

Knowledgeable Moderators are awesome for a good forum so WHAT HE SAID! I always seal my wood because it usually eliminates color bleeds and I cannot afford that in my work.

I also had the bleeding into my wood. It was Spalted Tamarind in a cutting board. Oddly enough there was NO bleeding into the walnut or maple or mahogany. So I assumed that the Tamarind was just a very porous wood. Wished I would have sealed it first!

What are you using to seal the wood?
