New member, LOVE me some Alumilite products. They are a fishermans dream!!
I've recently stumbled across VAC 50. I'm going to get some to duplicate some injection molds I have. My question is what is the life going to be like? The temperature rating is only 200 degrees and at times I shoot a ton of baits. Is the stuff pretty durable or is it only going to last X amount of shots?

For pouring hard or soft plastic baits? I'm assuming soft plastics and if that is the case, yes these molds will last practically indefinitely for Alumisol. The heat deflection temp as defined by ASTM tests (on our tech data) is much different than a realistic service temperature. If you've seen the video of the 9" fluke we made, I can tell you I've poured a ton of baits out of that mold and it looks as if it has never been used. Alumisol is not an aggressive material like a casting resin would be.
If you are using them for hard plastic lures ... top water plugs, cranks, etc ... you will need to make sure there is absolutely no negative drafts and need to make sure you mold release frequently if not every pour to make sure the urethane resin you are pouring to make your hard bait does not bond to the urethane in the Vac50. I'd recommend our UMR as it is considered a paintable mold release whereas Stoner is best for releasing urethane parts, it treats paint similar to silicone ... does not work well and would require a thorough wash prior to any painting.
Hope this helps. Mike

Your assumption was correct, I will be exclusively be using them for soft plastic baits.
That is great news! I can't wait to try it out! I will stop in Monday, I am in Portage.

Great. Please let us know before coming in as I'd love to make sure I'm here. Please also bring the lure you are planning to mold. This was we can discuss specifics of the best way to do it.
Thanks, Mike 269 488-4000
