I am getting ready to make a new mold using Alumilte Quick Set silicone rubber. I opened the container and there is quite a bit settled on the bottom and it is pretty hard. Am I supposed to stir the stuff off the bottom or just open the container and use it? LOL sorry I do not have the insructions anymore.
Thanks

Which container is it? Is it the larger container of silicone or the smaller container of catalyst.....I can post a set of instructions if you like.

I've gotten fresh from Alumilite Plat 25 that has settled to the bottom like that and after stirring it, it recombined and worked just fine. It also loosens right up after a minute or two of stirring. I've taken to stirring both sides (or in the case of the small catalyst bottle - shaking it) before I start measuring what I need (I usually do this when it's been a couple days between pours). Just be sure you have something long enough and fairly thick enough to do the stirring without breaking - I usually use a paint stick with the Plat 25 because I get the 10lb size of it. I use an oversized popsicle stick (think tongue depressor size) for the smaller sizes. It may work your muscles a bit to do the stirring but it should loosen up after a while. If it doesn't then there might be a problem...
Normally the mold materials will settle during shipment so what you found is normal and nothing to worry about unless it crumbles into dust when you stir. Now THAT would be something wrong with the mold material.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. Sorry for my late reply, I tend to get side tracked on other projects. It is the big container of silicon that has settled. Every one I have bought is like that. Next one I get I'll try to stir it up off the bottom and see what happens.
