I plan on casting some 18" or so cylindrical pieces attached to a variety of real dry types of wood so I made a pressure pot out of 4" PVC Sch 40 pipe. I have been testing the pot at 40 lbs and it holds pressure well. Anybody out there made one of these yet and if so how did it work for casting the Alumilite clear 7 minute stuff? I have attached a few pics of my creation

NashRanch,
Please be very careful these can be a dangerous piece of casting equipment without proper valves and safety devices in place. We have never made one here always get ours at a reputable facility that knows the business of making safe pressure equipment.
Be safe!

I will be very careful Carol. I do have a safety valve to mount yet on my pressure pot. My big concern is the heat generated inside the pressure pot when the Alumilite is curing. Exactly how long should I leave my casting under pressure inside the pot? I will be using the 7 minute cure alumilite clear for woodturners.

Today I used my home made PVC pressure pot. My cylindrical casting turned crystal clear. I held the casting at 40PSI for approx. 45 minutes.
