Today I rec'd my order of the clear alumilite for woodturning. During the weighing of Part A with a couple drops of the blue dye in it my digital scale shutdown and I lost track of the weight. So I thought no problem cuz I had two equal sized containers with equal marks on both. So I filled the second container with part B to the same line as I did with the part A. Volume in both parts was the same but not sure about the weight. So I mixed both parts together and stirred up and poured the mix into my mold. I noticed during the curing only the lower half got hot. Now after 5 hours or so there is still semi liquid on top. Farther down my mold it feels firm like it set up. Do you think I've screwed up and not mixed it well enuf or did I not get a 1:1 ratio of Part A and B??

NashRanch,
I would say both... measurement and mixture was off. The clear is a 1:1 by weight mix ratio it is important to follow that measurement, as that is the formulation in the polyurethane clear resins from Alumilite. The Amazing clear cast is an epoxy and formulated to be used by volume, some of the resins can be measured either way but not these.
Mixing is important too since these are an exothermic product it is necessary for a chemical cross link to take place. This is done not only by measurement but mixing, as all the A's have to combine with all the B's to have a solidly cured inert piece.
Regards,
Carol

Thank you Narine for that wonderful advise for the Amazing Clear Cast Epoxy. The Clear that Nashranch used is the Alumilite Clear (polyurethane) most of those apply for urethane's too, so nice tutorial.
Warmest Regards,
Carol
