Making a variety of wood projects in which I will route or carve recesses. Have typically used wood to create the fill but want to expand the fill options with resin. Tried a couple tests just to see what happened. Shrinkage is one issue, even after over filling the cavity to start. Expected that I would have to sand the cured resin down to the wood base. Is this typical? Also would appreciate any tips on polishing the resin back to a high gloss once cured in the wood. Have polished resin when making pens many times but not as an inlay surrounded by wood. Thanks very much.

Can we have some of our woodworkers chime in on this? I know that it's do-able and know that shrinkage shouldn't be happening but I haven't worked with it myself so I can't speak on it well.
