Dear All;
I am new to this forum and trying to go through the threads but a lot of info to process.
I have started to work with resins to make scaled model cars. I am not sure which resin to use and which is best for this purpose. I searched in Youtube and those are not helpful. It will be best if i can get some info to proceed further.
like resin type to source for resin casting mold making , best resin for parts making, color ,primer, separator etc.
Also need too know which resin should use for clear parts and rubber type parts.
and is there any casting resin that is reusable ?
Looking forward to your advise, TIA.

This is the same thing I do...I build 1:25 Ford stock cars and since there sometimes is not a whole lot to choose from, I have to scratch build which entails pouring some rubber-n-resin at times. "I am new to this forum and trying to go through the threads but a lot of info to process." If you have not done so, try using the search feature here on the forums. As an example, I have documented some of my pours in the past in detail which may be of help to you and answer some questions.
"I am not sure which resin to use and which is best for this purpose" As far as resin goes, I pour RC-3 ...easy clean up (flash,oils) and takes to model primer paints well. I am able to bore, drill and cut with my Dremal tool with out much hassle.
"I searched in Youtube and those are not helpful." For those just getting started, I would stay away from Youtube...you can have 5 different people telling you 5 different things on one subject.....case in point: I've checked out some vids going in with the knowledge on how its done...just wanted to see how others where doing it was all. The most common mistake was leaving steps out, I guess whoever posted the vid assumed that everyone knows everything step by step. Seen some vids of people using Alumilite products but the failed to say which RTV silcone rubber they where pouring...could have been, as an example, HS-1, HS-2 or HS-3 ...all three are High Strength RTV silicone rubber , but each one has different hardness once they have cured which is important , especially when I cast the smaller parts and pieces. I tend to use HS-2 on the smaller stuff requiring a 2 part mold because it's less apt to give when pressure is applied to keep the 2 halves in place while pouring resin. I use HS-3 (available at finer hobby stores everywhere) for simple 1 part molds. Intake manifolds tend to have undercuts and the HS-3 works great for casting them. "color ,primer, separator etc." Not quite sure what you where asking ,but I will do my best to answer.....Color wise resin is going to be pretty much as what you have pictured when its cured. Now if your taking color as in paint , I have started using Tamiya products more frequently....I really like the end result whether its Styrene plastic or resin. I have started using a combination of first Mr. Surfacer liquid primer and then Tamiya fine surface primer....I could not be more pleased with the results.
I'm going to take a guess on what you mean by separator....if its a mold release your speaking of, there are several products out there all of which work, it just personal preference. For a 2 part mold release , I will use petroleum jelly. For a release between the RTV silicone rubber and the mold box or what ever I use to contain the RTV silicone rubber once its being poured to form a mold, I use Price-Driscoll mold release in an spray can...Alumilite sells Stoner mold release in a spray can....same type of mold release just personal preference is all. If its a release between the rubber mold and resin , I use talcum powder that is lightly brushed on and the excess blown off to relieve surface tension between the curing resin and the rubber mold.
"Also need too know which resin should use for clear parts and rubber type parts." I don't use windows in my stock car builds, thus I am of no help on the clear stuff...Notoes, however, has cast using the clears and would be of way more help....check out Alumilite Clear and see if that will work for you. As far as rubber, for tires I am guessing, I was told to use Flex 60 by some who cast more tires than I would use in a life time .... I have not cast any tires yet due to the fact that I can order on line what I need....in other words its less expensive for me to buy the finished product from some one else verses me doing it my self.
"is there any casting resin that is reusable ?" You mean something like this alumilite.freeforums.net/thread/541/recycle-resin-castings-filler-material This is about all that you can do with casting resin that you don't end up using.
