totally confused what method of making a mold of a similar item that is open at both ends and on the side. A block rubber resin mold was considered but concerned that removal of item from block would be challenging and the volume of mold resin is significant. what would be considered the most sensible way to make a mold of the item, considering it has 3 open orifices.
hand holding is only bodily contact. what mold and cast resin is suggested.
thanks

Looks like you could do this with a 2 part mold....as it is pictured there would be a Right half and a Left half. As far as resin goes, how much strength are you needing......is there an inside force forcing pressure outward through the walls (liquid, air).... does the object support something else (lighter or heavier than it is)....is it a static piece ( it may connect to something else, but with no pressure or force of weight issues)

That looks like a 3D print (but I could be wrong), for most plastics I'd use a silicone mold - one of the High Strength series.

There is no inner pressure other than water, as the inner is hollow and the walls are 1/2 cm thick. it was made from a 2 part mold as well as i can see the seem. But i have made modifications to the original. now I want to have a function version.
i began the prep work for a 1 piece block mold then realized that separation in one piece is challenging.
does a cast of the outer portion of one side and inner portion of the same side need to be made. hence creating 4 casts.

It just goes up and then hooks down like it looks in the picture right? Like an upside down J? I'd say stand it upright and make the straight part one piece then have a seam on the sides of the top part so that you can take off just the top over the angled down part and pop it right out of the mold. The inner part of the bottom and the inner part of the angled down part will be part of the bottom part of the mold with a small removable part at the top to be able to remove the casting. If you have a side view picture you can share, I can add lines to it to show you what I mean.

Yes like a J, hollow centre and hollow j portion. 1/4 inch walls. if im understand correctly the mold will consist of 3 portions, 2 outer halves and solid inner mold.
