Hello,
New here but not new to using epoxy and poly. I do fiberglass work but mostly using plugs. I have an idea to make a mold for a fan blade. I like the shape and the slight twist along it's length and think it'll be challenging. The question is. What would be the best way to go about making an epoxy or polyester cast of a fan blade either being completely clear or using pigments.
Thank you for any help you may provide!

....It can be done with a 2 part mold,(front half and back half) the only issue that I can think of is the blade being balanced .... i.e out of balance vibration at high R.P.M's unless this would be used at a slow R.P.M or as a static piece.

The blade would not be used as an actual fan blade so no concern on balance. My real concern is the blade is not completely flat and twists along it's axis so would a 2 part mold work? The blade is small, only about 18" long so the twist isnt much, maybe 2".
Thank you for your help!

If it's not going to be an actual working blade then yes a two part mold should work just fine for what you want. Be sure to put in registry keys to keep the two pieces aligned and a release agent between the two halves when you pour the second on top of the first so that they come apart without having to cut them to separate them. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
