Okay, my new project is to make a duplicate of a tail light lens for my classic car. I made a 2 part mold of the part using plat 55. Now, I'm ready to make the part.
1. The original part weights 65 grams. Is this an accurate amount of how much Clear Cast resin I should mix up? (33 grams of part A and 33 grams of part B) I will probably mix some extra to be sure the pour isn't short.
2. I need to tint the resin with red dye. Does dye count in the weight measurement?
Thanks Bill
I moved forward and mixed up 40 grams of A and B plus some dye. The dye didn't really drip because it was much thicker than I anticipated. I had excess but not so much that I wasted too much. I believe, for my case, using the actual weight of the part I'm duplicating worked out well.

1. Your measurements should be right, just make sure you have extra on hand to mix up quickly if you happen to come up short. Since you already plan on that, you're good to go there.
2. No it shouldn't count in the weight measurement as it's added as an "after item". You still need to equal out the total of side A and side B to what you need.
Sounds like things worked well for you.
