I have very little experience in using resin. I would like to cast a hollow cylinder by pouring resin into a piece of clear vinyl piping and having a second narrower piece of piping in the middle to create the hollow. I figure that by putting a release agent on the inner piping and/or removing it part of the way through the drying time would allow this to work. But how long do you have to wait before removing this inner piece so the resin doesn't flow to fill the space? I am using clear cast epoxy resin Thank You

.....I haven't poured clear, but if I where you I would go with the cure time...however many minutes that is. You may also consider making the outside clear vinyl piping into two halves (for ease of removal) unless you don't want to have to deal with the vertical seams that will be present. Use release agent on both the inner and outer pieces of piping.

I have used petroleum jelly with great results, also out there is Price-Driscoll mold release (available in an 18 oz. spray) as well as Stoner mold release and Alumilites universal mold release (both avaialable thru Alumilite in a 12 oz. spray)

Cooking oil will work in a pinch but you might want to wipe it off after it hits full cure, I've used petroleum jelly too and they seem to work almost the same. The Clears have a longer open time - the Amazing Clear Cast has 30-40 minutes so once it hits 30 minutes after pouring I'd check to see if it moves any but to be safe I'd wait the full 40 minutes as long as you have the release on the inner piping. Anything that doesn't have a release agent on it will be subject to the Clear bonding to it and you'll almost never get it out - I use it to seal mold box bottoms and haven't had one break the seal yet no matter how much rough handling it went through.
