I have clear cast resin with black dye and was wondering if I could use this to repair local areas of corrosion on metal railings. Two questions: Will the clear cast resin bond to iron (steel brushed as prep but not back to bare metal) and is it possible to over paint afterwards. Thank you

If the original material is metal, I would personally use metal and weld it together then sand it level. It can be done but I wouldn't say it would be as strong as the metal originally was. If you don't need the railing to be structurally strong - as in the railing is only decorative, then it can be done but you'll need to completely enclose the railing for it to stay in place.
