Probably been asked before but I was thinking about making a pepper grinder/salt shaker out of alumilite. Is alumilite clear slow food safe so that is safe to do or should I just go with wood?

Alumilite Clear is supposed to be food safe but I'm not seeing the notice of it with the new website formatting. So I'm double checking on that for you.

Okay double checking done and I WAS WRONG - it's the Amazing Clear Cast (EPOXY) that is food safe NOT the regular Alumilite Clear or Clear Slow! BUT you have to follow the directions EXACTLY to be sure it is FDA compliant, the directions are under the "Technical Data Sheet" on the Alumilite website. And be sure to give it the full three days curing time (without trying to hurry it) before trying to use the castings (or cleaning them prior to use) just to completely be safe. So one of the Clear types is food safe but you have to be sure to get the right one (NONE of the other resins are safe) and do it exactly as the directions say or you won't be safe. It's also listed under the Epoxy link so it's even separated into a different category by Alumilite to help you make the right choice.
