Hello,
I currently have to reproduce a headlight lens that is no longer available. I thought used polyurethane resin and proceeded to a casting molding.
I have seen different articles about Alumilite Water Clear that seems a very interesting product for reproduction of this kind of piece.
However, as the original part is made of glass, do you think Alumilite resin is strong enough to withstand the heat of the bulb ? Do you think another product is better for this application ?
It's for a classic car, but used as daily driver. So quality of night lighting is important.
Regards

Dany44,
Many people use the Water Clear for creating replica's and/or restoration of no longer available lenses on antique cars. That said they are not always for daily use with constant exposure to UV light. It is not UV stable and can yellow over time with moderate to constant exposure of our sun. The strength, impact resistance of the Clear resins may not be quite as good as the glass for but it is relatively strong in thicker then 1/4 inch thickness.
Regards,
Carol
