I have been trying 2 resins, the amazing clear and water clear to make fishing lures. The amazing clear was pouring fine with perfect results. I found out that with minimal heat under 100° the piece would become flexible where it could be bent almost in half, also I'm using glass molds and the resin was expanding and cracking the mold, so I switched to water clear and stoner release, now I'm having a problem with the piece releasing ok but not coming out with a smooth finish in areas at the top of the cylinder. Also I add tri beads to the cnter of the lure, with amazing clear they stayed shiny translucent but with water clear they turn a chalky finish. Any help would be appreciated

Actonup,
The Amazing Clear Cast is an epoxy resin that needs to be measure 1:1 by volume, if it is not sometimes it will not cure hard and remain with a bit of flex to it. It typically doesn't expand you would be more likely to see shrinkage. It is not recommended to use glass for molds, silicone's work best as molds for resin.
In using the Alumilite Water Clear as it is a polyurethane resin, it will/can bond to anything but silicone. So a release must be used, Stoner works well as it is a silicone based release. The resin will pick up all the detail on the mold it is poured into, it will pick up some of the haze from the release that is why a silicone mold works best for the urethane and/or epoxy. When creating a silicone mold your master/original must be prepped accordingly, again because silicone picks up detail, finish, and texture. So if you want to have a piece that is optically water clear (along with degassing the resin so there is no bubbles) the master must be a highly polished/glossy piece so the replica will be clear.
Perhaps the beads had some moisture in them that would give you the white chalky around them in the center of the bait.
Regards,
Carol
