Hello all,
First post here, directed to Tech Sales.......I live in the U.K and have been making custom vehicle lenses for the past 14 years. I am looking for an alternative to the clear resin I currently use, and after reading the Tech Data, it looks as if your 'water clear' resin could be suitable. Do you have a distributor of this product in the U.K? I contacted Metal Clay Ltd and they referred me back to yourselves.
I'd be interested to hear from any members who use this product for thin section castings....mine are typically 2-3 mm. I don't have a pressure pot, so the product must be able to rendered 100% bubble free through vacuum degassing prior to pouring.

Hello Wolfie,
Metal Clay has a wonderful group of people working there as you know! They do not carry the Water Clear, but they do have the Alumilite Clear Wolfie, many use the Alumilite Clear for tail light lenses. The differences being the Water Clear is a bit more UV stable but it is also a little softer resin, the Alumilite Clear is harder, hence it will polish better. If you are tinting your lenses the UV stability wouldn't be quite as important, that said none of the clears are completely UV stable.
The thinness of your pieces could be an issue as far as impact resistant that is very thin. In that thinness it could be brittle and much more fragile. One last thing Wolfie, you would have to degas to have no bubbles, to almost be 100% assured there were not any bubbles it would be best to vacuum and pressure. There is not a 100% guarantee there there would not be any bubbles using equipment, I can pretty much tell you with out degassing you will have some bubbles.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Warmest Regards,
Carol
