I am having some issues trying to cast pen tubes with stamps on them. The stamps where stuck on with a glue stick (this might be the culprit), and then there is a clear coat of nail Polish on top of that. I waited 7 days before I turned them, and I got more bubbles then I ever have.
1. I Pressure cast at 55 psi 2. My wife has been painting pen tubes using nail polish, I have successfully done over 40 of them, so I believe the name polish is fine.
Even after a week, could the glue be an issue? Or, could there be an issue just using stamps? I know others have succeeded, and the stamps are sadly very old (not rare and expensive, but really hard to replace), so before I do more I am looking for any advice on casting with Postage Stamps.
Thank you for your help,
Greg

First please understand the white glue and fingernail polish both use moisture from the air to cure ... the same way super glue does.
Questions for you: How long did you wait between the white glue before putting the nail polish on? Did you try only using the nail polish as you know that works? Do the stamps soak in the white glue or nail polish ... do they look wet or are they still dry and bright looking?
thx, Mike

So, she only let the glue dry about 30 minutes before putting on the nail polish. The stamps did not look wet. She used a light coat of stick glue. It was not saturated at all.
No soaking in the nail polish, just a coat over the stamp once on the tube.

Assuming it is the Glue that is an issue, and thought on what I could put over it that would keep the Alumilite from bubbling?

My suggestion would be to try a thin layer of CA glue as this is what most turners use ... viscosity may make a difference. I'd probably go with a fairly thin version (but not water thin).
