I am very new to casting and such and was curious how I would achieve a ruby type coloring? I was assuming I would use Amazing Clear Cast and red dye but is there something that might be better suited? Also how hard is the material after it has hardened etc? Would that be suited for small button that would see pretty regular use?

Good Monday Morning Motorhead592,
Yes many use the Amazing Clear Cast Epoxy to make buttons. It is a hard, durable, and clear resin with an 80D. In a very thin button with stress it could break, but again this is a very durable resin under normal use.
When using Alumilite’s Dyes to color your casting resin, the dyes work in both the opaque resins and the translucent. When used in the clear resin it will make a translucent colored casting. The dyes are added to the “A” side by weight up to 5%.
The other transclucent resins are urethanes and require degassing equipment to be bubble free. The epoxy if mixed following directions, will typically be bubble free.
Have a wonderful day.
Regards,
Carol
