I purchased the 300g Amazing Mold Putty on October 12 2016 from Amazon.com (Ships from and sold by Amazon.com). The lid on one of the tubes was open when it arrived and some of it, at least from the top, does not seem to be curing properly. I can't find any date or other identifier on the packaging.
For all tests I was using nitrile gloves and the temperature was 72f-75f with 75% relative humidity.
First test: 2.06g A + 2.06g B, from the very top of the tube - knead for 15 minutes to see how long it takes to start being firm. It did not get firm so I left it overnight and it is still very slowly flowing down the side of the object I coated with it. The surface is very shiny and looks wet.
Second test: 1.2g each, mixed for 2 minutes. After letting it sit 20 minutes it did become firm but my fingerprints still leave impressions on the surface if I squeeze it even after curing overnight. It looks shiny.
Third test: 2.4g each, from deeper along the side of the tube, mixed for 30 seconds. Same as 2nd test.
Fourth test: 5.4g of each from the very bottom of the tube, mixed until it starts getting more firm and less sticky at 2 minutes, apply to object and it is definitely firm after 20 minutes. It is definitely less shiny than the other tests.
On all of the tests the inside is more solid than the outside. If I poke it with my fingernail the outside indents more permanently while the inside retains its shape well. The last test, using the putty from the bottom of the tube indents less than the others.
Does leaving the container unsealed cause problems? Does the mold putty settle in storage, and should each tube (individually) be mixed up before use?
