I'm kind of new to this. I need to cast a custom knife sheath. I will be making the pattern out of wood (2 pieces) to fit the knife. I don't want to use the knife as a pattern. Should I put the two pieces together to make a mold, or would I be better served to cast each side separately and assemble after casting? Using small screws and nuts are OK for the final assembly. Need advice on the proper materials. Thanks.

Sorry for the slow response as we've had a couple people out. Most will make in two halves and then use hardware to fasten. If there is an advantage to pouring a solid, that is an option as well. Really it depends on however you'd like to mold and pour it.
