So glad I found this company and this resin info! I have seen many products made with casting resin, duck calls and other makers knife handles. I am wondering which resin to purchase, I would not use it "clear" but would dye it, so hardness and good strength is what I'm after. Also,, I did not see some of the exotic colors others have gotten with their castings, is there other dyes offered by other companies that work well with your resins? I am looking for "slime or toxic green" color, and also turquoise. It looks like you want to take good care of your customers here, so I look forward to a great relationship with you! Jon Moore

Welcome Jon Moore,
We are glad you found us too! I would say by far and large the biggest in demand for the applications you mentioned is the Alumilite Slow Clear. It has the open time, the hardness, the strength, and the beautiful clarity (of course using degassing equipment is required for the last description).
We love our customers, we love seeing pictures of their beautiful, creative, and impressive projects, designs, ideas, and creations!
Most things that are DRY work with urethane resins, NO moisture, nothing water based, make sure you use and store in a climate controlled area. Even humidity (moisture) can be absorbed by urethane resins!
Please always remember we are here to help ... call, email, or ask in the forum. Alot of other people here are willing to share their experiences to help us learn from their experience.
Have a great day!
Regards,
Carol

Thanks for the reply! Ok,, so what do you mean, "degassing equipment?" Is this using a "pressure pot" to remove air bubbles? You mention humidity, Does it effect it (resin) while it is sealed in a container? I would suppose buying in smaller quantities is an option for that reason, (?). You also did not respond to my question about other dyes,, perhaps someone else will jump in on sources. Thanks! Jon

I am sorry Jon I did not respond on the dyes... NOTHING water based as far as dyes, fillers, or any additives (test is always best if in doubt). With polyurethanes being so moisture sensitive they will not tolerate anything with moisture. Yes... degassing is a pressure pot and/or vacuum system. Most penturners, as well as those who use the Clear for other applications such as yours do use and prefer pressure I am told. I do not know where to send you for the colors you seek, hopefully someone else will answer that has a place to where you may purchase those colors.
It is best to use and store in a climate controlled area when not in use. When in use caps back on as soon as you pour out what you need and don't leave it sitting in cups, when you measure out be ready to use then. Typically it is fine through the shelf life (which is 3-5 months on the Alumilite Clear) from date of purchase. Yes it is best to purchase the amount you know you will use in that allotted amount of time Jon.
Regards,
Carol
