I would like to use Alumilite Clear to cast pen turning blanks. Can I use silicone molds to pressure cast the pen turning blanks? Something like your High Strength 2. Would a rigid mold work better? I have seen some molds made from plastic cutting boards.
Thanks.

Nickrocco,
Yes that is the product, HS2, that most of the turners are using Nick when they use silicone for their mold. Many use a styrene/cutting board plastic with Stoner mold release for their mold.
If you elect to use silicone for a mold, it is best to degas it since it will be going under pressure.

The reason for recommending degassing the silicone prior to pressure casting is so IF you entrap air bubbles in the mold (even though they may not be on the surface), they may collapse when pressure casting your resin and your parts may end up with tiny warts or bumps on the surface of your blank. May not be a big deal as you will be turning them anyway.
If you don't have the ability to degas and wish to make a perfectly bubble free rubber mold, the other option is to pressure cast the rubber just as you will your blanks. Simply measure, mix, and pour your High Strength 2 and then stick in your pressure pot, apply pressure, and leave overnight. The next morning demold a perfectly bubble free mold.
Now when you pressure cast your blanks will come out perfectly with no bumps.
