I just bought the 410 gram box from a Big Box Hobby/Art supply store a month or so ago. I opened the containers last night. After I peeled off the seal the catalyst looked fine. The silicone in the larger container is too viscous and the top of the stuff looked like it had began to harden (?)- the top seal was unbroken- was on very tight like a drum head. I tried to scrape the top part off and the whole jar was slightly thinner but the difference was relatively nominal. It would be nearly impossible to mix at let alone thoroughly. This High Strength "kit" was 30 bucks. What should I do? I often use your casting products (primarily quick Set for molds) and thought I'd try this type with this piece I need to cast with some undercuts.
Thanks

Please give us a call tomorrow morning (Monday) between 8am-5pm EST and we will have you send us some pictures of the kit/base so we can see what is going on. If and once we determine it defective, we will simply send you a brand new one.
Sorry for the inconvenience but we will make sure you have good product. Unfortunately we can not manage the stock of every store/distributor and every once in a long while we run into something like this.
Give us a call and we'll figure it out.
thx, Mike

Did the pictures reveal anything? Any idea as to what was going on with my batch?

Thanks for the outstanding customer service!!!
Re: Age of the material- Wow!!?? I'll be weary in stores ... Is there a way to tell how old the stuff is? Like a production date code.

Typically not on the box. The shelf life of that material is very stable though ... to give you an example ... 2 years and I would not expect any difference. 3 years and beyond, perhaps getting thick. Simply put, we just don't see that very often at all as most stores will sell long before then or rotate their stock. So I wouldn't be weary but unfortunately you found the wrong diamond in the rough.
