I'm looking to make a mold and resin cast a full helmet for Hornet from Hollow Knight. She's got a unique shape, so I'm unsure how to construct a mold for her helmet. Any ideas? I'm worried it'll be too heavy, the "bunny" ears/horns just seen so complicated... I've provided reference pictures to Hornets character so you can see. I've seen people use two part molds etc I'm just not sure if I should do that and have it separate horizontally instead? I don't think the mold would separate if I halved it vertically...

....How big is this helmet going to be? Aprox. size.... Do you have the master ready to go to start pouring rubber....depending on the size , I can see this being either a one part or two part mold....easy enough.

If you want a "flat back" on the underside, you can go with a one piece mold but if you want it fully rounded then you'll need to do a two piece. You can put a seam line anywhere on a two piece mold (not using completely straight lines works very good on them) and a one piece can have a small flat area for pouring and still get some of the rounding underneath as silicone will stretch enough to remove a casting and still go back into shape afterwards.
Also, are you doing just the helmet or are you going to attach it to something?
