I am wanting to cast some Headlight and taillight lens. But confused. Some people say use a vacuum chamber, but then others say a pressure pot set at about 50 psi is lots better. and quicker. what do you say.is better of getting bubbles out.

Dear Guest,
They both can degas the resin, either at 29" for vacuum or 50 PSI for pressure. There are those that use both, vacuuming the resin prior to pouring in the mold and then putting it under pressure (extra precaution for bubble free castings) until it is cured.
If you are only going to use pressure it is important to degas the silicone you are making your mold from. Even though it may be a silicone that doesn't call for degassing if putting it under pressure it should be done. If not you may get some irregular markings on the replica due to air pockets in the interior chunk of the silicone that can be pushed into the cavity while it is under pressure.
I would say for tail light lenses, I have many more who chose pressure if only one system (pressure or vacuum) is to be used.
Regards,
Carol
Happy New Year!
