I've been using Plat 25 for my project (not for food) and the color is starting to fade, turning almost white. Anyone know the cause? Is is temperature, chemicals used to clean it? I am using Stoner Mold Release on the parts and it is used for vacuum bagging. Finally, is this a sign the part will tear at some point?

Typically the Plat 25 will not fade. You mention chemicals used to clean it ... couple of questions regarding that ... what are you pouring into the molds ... perhaps a polyester or vinlyester resin? ... what are you using to clean it? ... any other factors of the vacuum bag that would stand out?
Since we have not seen it fade, I can't be certain of its condition but usually you can tell by the lubricity of it. Before it fails, it will usually get a crusty surface in which the resin that you use, will begin to deplete the silicone oil out of the surface of your mold.
One way to combat this is to treat periodically with Silicone Oil by putting some on a clean, lint free rag or t-shirt and wiping on a thin layer over the surface of the mold and allowing that to soak in/be absorbed for a couple days prior to pouring the next part. This will rejuvenate the surface of the mold and add the elasticity and release back into the rubber. If you can plan to do it, it is best to do on a Friday and allow to sit until Monday morning when production resumes. Only wipe on a thin layer, you do not want it dripping or puddling in the bottom of the mold.
This method of prolonging the mold life is best if implemented right from the beginning of use rather than waiting until the mold is near the end of its expected life.
