Hi all,
I'm working on a project with Alumilite White and I am running into an issue with excessive foaming of the resin once it has already been poured into the mold, meaning the leftover resin in my mixing cups does not foam noticeably. I live in central Texas (very humid) and I understand humidity can be the cause of this but I am quite confused as to why it only seems to happen to the resin that comes in contact with the mold (high strength 3). Is it possible the mold absorbed moisture during the curing process which it now leeches into the resin when it is cast? Or does anyone have any other ideas why this is happening?
Thanks and happy holidays,
Guesp

Guesp,
Yes there appears to be moisture from somewhere. I doubt the mold is absorbing moisture while the resin is curing, more than likely the moisture was on there before you poured the resin. Are the molds stored in climate controlled area, no humidity? Urethanes are very moisture sensitive in their liquid state, have you washed the mold out with anything Guesp? Please call if you like, we can go over this.
Happy Holidays to you as well,
Carol

Hi Carol, Thank you for your response. I'm still not sure how the moisture got in there but after packing the molds with talc and letting them sit for a few hours they cast beautifully Best wishes, Guesp
